By Brian Bandell Congress has approved $190 million in funding for a new federal courthouse in Fort Lauderdale, although the site has yet to be determined.

In the works for more than four years, the drive to build a replacement federal courthouse in Broward County has delivered a favorable vote from both the House and the Senate. The General Services Administration (GSA) determined the new courthouse should total 232,000 square feet, including 12 courtrooms and 17 chambers, plus 50 interior parking spaces.
